14. Today’s Learning Target

By the end of today's lesson, you'll be able to say, "I can make and write facts that reveal a barrier that my subject overcame."

  1. Watch the video, above.
  2. Use your loose parts to make something that reveals the barrier that your subject overcame.
  3. Check the facts you gathered from your research that are a part of this cluster.
  4. Tinker with your creation to add things that represent these facts.
  5. Label your entire creation, if it helps. Use the most precise and sophisticated words that you can.
  6. Use your labels to begin writing sentences and then, an entire paragraph or more.

Remember:

–All writers will use facts to name the barriers their subjects overcame.

–Some writers will reveal details about their subjects’ thoughts and feelings about this.

–Just a few will also use a quote that reveals what the subject or another person said about this experience.

You’ve finished this lesson once you’ve written a paragraph or passage that reveals how your subject overcame a barrier.
